“In my eyes, jewelry is one of the most personal accessories a girl, and guy, can wear. It tells a story, whether it be what type of mood she is in or even what type of style she feels like conveying that particular day.

I hope to create pieces that are versatile and embrace change- combining the present with the past. I like to think of my style as Bohemian with a touch of Vintage Glam. Many of my brightly colored pieces come as inspiration to me from my recent trip to St. John, USVI. The scenery was breathtaking. My vintage style comes from growing up around beautiful antiques and jewelry of my past relatives.

I have always been a creative soul who has loved to make art using all sorts of different mediums. Although drawing and painting are a favorite of mine, jewelry making is my true love.

I will always be thankful for my dad taking me to the beadshop growing up in order to spend the few dollars that I had in my piggy bank. I still have those beads and hold them dear to my heart. I even had a few pieces that I can’t help but laugh at. It’s amazing to see the change in my work since day one. Practice really does make things perfect in the way you want them to be and hard work definitely pays off!

I started up my little business on Etsy because it as a market for me to express myself the way I want to. I love intereacting with other artists alike and I can’t wait to see how my Etsy page changes over time. Not only am I selling my pieces here but I also like to make purchases. I can’t help but love handmade items in all shapes and forms.

Wake Up Sandy by Sandra D

Back in 2011, when Wakeupsandy was originated, I set up shop in my at-home office with very little supplies and knowledge of the jewelry design world. Along the way, I have self taught myself to learn and grow in my understanding of the various jewelry making techniques. Learning about different materials, spending countless hours creating new things and getting lots of feedback (both positive and negative) from all sorts of people has made me confident that this ever-evolving process will only get better with time. I can’t wait to see what the future holds!

Thanks for reading my story,

Sandy”
