This week we are featuring Jessica Robin of CrowJaneJewelry! Jessica makes stunning forged jewelry using simple lines to construct complex and stunning pieces. Check out her work and her story:
“Each piece of Crow Jane Jewelry is made with love by me, Jessica Robin, in my studio in Denver, Colorado. xo
My designs are inspired by the intersections of nature + fabrication and ancient + modern cultures.
Growing up in New Mexico influenced my love of native artwork and the forms that show up time + again in design- those alluring patterns that seem to be inherent in human nature.
I am in love with the endless combinations of beauty that come to light through the process of alchemy with the simple elements of fire, metal + hammer.
I am constantly sketching and I have notebooks everywhere- in my bag, in my car, on the kitchen table, in my studio and by my bed. I move from sketches to figuring out the engineering of the pieces. Sometimes I realize that the design isn’t so easy to engineer and sometimes it works perfectly, like magic.
I use traditional metalsmithing techniques in my designs, each pieces is hand cut, hand formed, soldered, and hand finished. With my OOAK stone pieces, I like to let the stone speak through the design. Each one is like and abstract painting and is magnificent!
Edgy, yet organic, each piece is hand crafted in my studio in the Denver foothills- just a short walk out my back door- xo.”
